Week 3 - Practical 2

To get my research started, i had decided on the topic-the impact of drugs abuse on youths. The search on the 3 different types of websites- organization, personal, and subject-based was made relatively easy with the use of powerful search engines like yahoo and google. l got plenty of relevant website links by entering key words like youth drug abuse, youth drug abuse blogs etc...

One of the organisation websites based on drug abused youth i found was http://www.unodc.org/youthnet/youthnet_youth_drugs.html This is an international website that describes its organisantion's background and purpose. The website also include some action plans they had taken to reduce or prevent youth drug abuse.

As for subject-based websites, i found http://www.nationalyouth.com/substanceabuse.html The website had issues based on the subject-youth drug abuse discussed.

Lastly personal websites like e-journals/blogs allow me to look into some personal views on youth drug abuse. http://www.technorati.com/blogs/suescheff10.blogspot.com

The major difference I noticed among the three websites is that organizational website is usually created and maintained by a particular organization. It contains extensive materials on the subject whereas subject- based website is based on a particular subject focus which may contain some overlapping between these and the organizational sites or the personal sites. Finally, personal websites are designed by individual for different purposes that includes personal experiences/opinions and recommendations. It may be related to his/her personal interests.
